Sindh Introduces Health Insurance for Police Personnel
The Sindh police department has officially rolled out a health insurance policy for its officers and personnel, effective November 1, as announced by police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon.
During a meeting held at the Central Police Office, Memon expressed gratitude to the Sindh government for this progressive initiative. The gathering included additional Inspector Generals from various departments, such as Karachi, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), operations, and welfare, along with several Deputy Inspector Generals.
The Sindh government has earmarked funding for this health insurance plan, which offers medical coverage of up to Rs1 million for police personnel and their families. This coverage will be accessible at 200 private hospitals across the country, starting from November 1.
The Inspector General of Police emphasized that this is the inaugural year of the health policy and urged officers to actively engage in its implementation, ensuring it effectively supports those in need of medical assistance. He stressed the importance of training welfare officers and educating personnel about the policy. Additionally, he highlighted the necessity of gathering and verifying family information through the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).
Memon called for enhanced collaboration between district representatives from the insurance company and police welfare officers to prevent delays in accessing medical services due to documentation issues. He instructed district officers and unit leaders to organize meetings to inform staff about the advantages of the new policy.
Moreover, the Assistant Inspector General of Welfare for Sindh announced that a 24/7 helpline is available through the Central Welfare Branch at the Central Police Office to assist personnel with inquiries related to the insurance policy.
